According to CNBC reports, Amazon is set to release an AI-powered Shopping Assistant. This product will be capable of identifying products based on users' inputs. Amazon is also testing a health chatbot that answers medical questions. Both features will allow users to communicate their needs or concerns in "everyday language,” according to CNBC.
The shopping feature, called Interests AI, will prompt consumers to describe what they’re looking for and then will continually scan for relevant items. The health chatbot, Health AI, can answer health and wellness questions, suggest products that may help treat certain ailments, and direct users to medical care (including Amazon Pharmacy and One Medical).
AI has "become a major area of investment" for Amazon, CNBC says.
The rise of chatbots and AI assistants could reach new heights if these implementations are launched. A few ways in which it could affect Ecommerce moving forward include:
AI-powered assistants will enable conversational shopping, helping users compare products and get real-time suggestions, making decisions faster and easier.
AI assistants analyse user behavior to provide tailored product recommendations. Amazon’s Interests lets users input preferences and receive updates on relevant products.
Amazon’s AI may push competitors to adopt similar technology, driving innovation in personalised and efficient shopping experiences.
Increased AI use raises concerns about consumer privacy. Retailers must ensure transparency and data security to maintain trust.
AI shopping assistants will enhance personalization, efficiency, and engagement, setting new industry standards and pushing other retailers to adapt.
