CakeDrop, located in central London, is a cake delivery service that brings delicious freshly baked cakes straight to your office. CakeDrop was launched earlier this year in July and since has been successful in connecting busy London office workers with independent bakeries all around the city. CakeDrop have an array of partner bakeries, mostly from some of London’s best independent bakeries, so as to support local businesses.
Another unique element of the start-up is that they give the bakers the creative freedom to create the cakes, therefore ensuring that the type of cake you receive on the day will be kept a surprise. This is to make sure that you always get something fresh, different and unique every time. With the delivery, you also receive information about who has made your cake as well as a full ingredient list for people with certain allergies.
Anna Ward, the mind behind CakeDrop, explains how the idea for this business came from working in offices and recognising the need. Birthdays in offices aren’t always the most organised events, with many employees doing mad dashes to the local store to pick up any cake they manage to find. Anna decided that she would like to give offices a more organised solution and connect these offices to the best bakeries London has to offer. She bikes around London every day delivering cakes in what she describes as a rewarding experience as people always light up when their cakes arrive.
CakeDrop currently offer their services to all postcodes in Zone 1 and you can schedule deliveries online for any day of the working week excluding bank holidays. The potential for the growth of CakeDrop is huge as the business is planning to expand their services to multiple hubs around London, and hopefully one day even further.
