You’ve probably previously read about the importance of SEO for a website or business, whether it be from Blu Digital or elsewhere. Rest assured it still is a very important aspect when it comes to getting your website out there in the public eye. SEO (Search Engine Optimization) is the process of a website being ranked high on search engines and as a result enables more visibility.
However, Google have announced that another aspect will also affect search rank. Google will be taking into account a page’s loading speed when ranking from July 2018 in an attempt to optimize mobile browsing. Consequently, according to Google, this update will ‘only affect pages that deliver the slowest experience to users and will only affect a small percentage of queries’.
No doubt this is a mention to developers to improve their site’s performance should it be a slow webpage. But, don’t worry! We are told that relevance trumps speed when it comes to search rank as ‘the intent of the search query is still a very strong signal, so a slow page may still rank highly if it has great, relevant content’.
