Snapchat has become the first social media outlet to integrate ChatGPT elements onto its platform.
The popular social media app has introduced the ‘My AI’ tool, for subscribers only, which allows users to input queries and receive an AI-generated response. This can be anything from providing recommendations or writing about friends and family.
There is no doubt that ChatGPT has gained unprecedented popularity whilst taking the tech world by storm, and Snapchat has identified how AI can keep them one step ahead of their social counterparts. This integration has demonstrated how social apps are looking to expand on the personalised experience users journey through.

Snapchat said in a statement:
“My AI can recommend birthday gift ideas for your BFF, plan a hiking trip for a long weekend, suggest a recipe for dinner, or even write a haiku about cheese for your cheddar-obsessed pal. Make My AI your own by giving it a name and customizing the wallpaper for your Chat.”
The introduction of ‘My AI’, could very well increase subscription numbers. Snapchat currently holds 2.5 million paying subscribers. Just like other platforms, Snapchat has seen a downturn in global ad spend, and this new tool could be a very welcome income stream.
The move from Snapchat to capitalise on the new conversational marketing tool could drive their competition to implement similar tools going forward. As apps look for ways to bring home a more personalised experience, ChatGPT could be central to all solutions.
