You may have heard about driverless cars and robots delivering food to your doorstep recently, well that is exactly what Starship Technologies do. Founded in 2014 by the co-founders of Skype, Janus Friis and Ahti Heinla, Starship Technologies develop self-driving robotic delivery vehicles.
These vehicles are quite small and compact as they travel on six wheels at four miles per hour and they deliver within a one mile radius. Both Janus Friis and Ahti Heinla have won awards for Starship Technologies including Start-up of the Year from Computer Bild - a German technology magazine.
This driverless scheme may become more of a regular feature in the near future as the start-up has tested their system in 100 cities and has even partnered up with pizza franchise, Domino's and Just Eat for deliveries. With robotics and driverless vehicles a current topic within the tech world this is surely a start-up and system that if implemented with various other brands will revolutionise the delivery service industry.
